Physical Therapy
Adult Disorders Pediatric Disorders Aston ® Fitness
The Continuum's Physical Therapy Department
helps clients who have experienced loss of mobility, function,
and/or independence. Their expertise and
experience spans all ages (for details, click on Our Staff).
The individual and group therapy programs are
designed to meet the needs and goals of the
client and family. Recognizing that some chronic
disabilities may need ongoing services, maintenance
individual and group therapies are available.
The physical therapists work closely with the primary physician and
assists with referrals into the community. Although therapy most often takes place in The Continuum's
gym, home and community outings may be part of the program. When the client receives additional
therapies (occupational and/or speech therapy), the physical therapists participate in a team approach that
includes weekly staffing, family conferences and on the job assessments. The primary physical therapist
also serves as a case manager making referrals into the community. Family and caregiver training
is an important part of the program as well as individualized home programs.

Aston ® Fitness for Living Classes Developed by Judith Aston
More than an exercise program... A new way of living for our Seniors.
Beyond a standard exercise program, in these classes seniors learn movements and exercises to
improve muscle strength and flexibility, improve circulation, decrease compression of tissues, and improve
posture. Combined with instruction in principles of safe body mechanics and ergonomics, these classes
teach seniors to be "body smart", improving function and decreasing risk of injury during activities such as walking, bending
reaching, lifting, getting in/out of furniture and cars.
